Biography

Terry DeWitt started sport shooting in 1988 with her father, who ran the Fairfield Gun Club in Cincinnati. She joined the Army in 1991, becoming a member of the US Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), and was a sergeant at the time of her 1996 Olympic appearance. DeWitt graduated from The Ohio State University in 1985 with a degree in wildlife management, and is a member of the Wildlife Society and Mountain Honorary. DeWitt was a member of the USAMU for over 20 years.

DeWitt won four medals at the World Shooting Championships, some under her maiden name of Terry Wentzel. All were in team trap or team double trap. She won silvers in 1994, 1998, and 2002, and a bronze in 1995. She was a six-time national champion, and in all, won 16 medals at World Cup events. In 2017 she became head coach of the Scholastic Clay Target Program as part of the USA Shooting National Team.
