Biography

Antal Gáborfi started competing in the colors of NSC in 1919. He became soon one of the best freestyle swimmers in Hungary, although he could not break the magic one-minute mark despite his 1:01 personal best being one of the best results at that time in Europe.

In 1923 he became a national champion in the 100m freestyle and as a member of NSC 4x200m free style relay. He participated at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam where he started in the 100m freestyle. He won his first round heat, but then only finished fourth in the semifinals and did not qualify for the finals. After swimming, he played water polo at MUE.
