Biography

Lim Heng Chek swam the 100 backstroke for Malaya at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. He also represented Malaya at the 1958 and 1962 Asian Games, and the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. At the Southeast Asian Peninsular (SEAP) Games Lim won golds in 1959 in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly and added a silver medal in 1961 in the 100 back. After retiring from competition, Lim coached the Selangor and national swim team from 1964-79. In 2013 he was inducted into the Olympic Council of Malaysia Hall of Fame.
