Dunfermline’s David Philip was an international referee who took charge of League games in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Between 1903-08 he refereed three matches in the Home International Championships. He also officiated in one match at the 1912 Olympics, the quarter-final tie between Netherlands and Austria. In 1909 Philip was involved in an ugly scene when he was attacked by supporters after leaving the ground following the Kilmarnock-Rangers game.
