Biography

In Thunder Bay, Ontario, Ernie Marchiori was a well-known figure for his involvement in skiing and ski jumping. Marchiori was one of the founding members of the Mount McKay Ski Area and served on the board of directors of the Fort William Ski Club, where he also became their President. After getting involved in winter sports in 1972 he gained the qualifications to become a national ski jumping judge in 1975, before gaining International Ski Federation (FIS) judging status in 1979. Marchiori represented the FIS as a technical delegate at the World Championships and worked as a judge at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. In 1997 he was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
