Biography

Jarmila Portová dedicated her whole life to figure skating, which saw her become a noted international judge. Portová worked as a long-time judge in both solo and pairs skating, and as a technical controller in ice dancing. In addition to judging multiple international competitions she also officiated at the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer (1994) and Nagano (1998). Portová reached the peak of the sport when she became the chief judge of the International Skating Union (ISU) for all figure skating categories. She also served as the President of the Czech Figure Skating Union.
