Biography

Livio Magoni is an Italian Alpine skiing coach whose brothers were the Alpine skier Paola Magoni-Sforza, slalom Olympic gold medalist at Sarajevo in 1984, and the football player Oscar Magoni. After having led the Italian second team, Livio Magoni took on positions at the national teams of Poland and Monaco, without obtaining significant results. He later moved on to the Slovenian national team and contributed to the success of Tina Maze, including an overall World Cup victory in 2013 (first trophy for Slovenia).

Magoni left that position in 2013 to return to the Italian Winter Sports Federation as manager of the women’s technical competitions for the Italian national team. In April 2015 he moved to train the Slovak skier Petra Vlhová, helping her win the overall World Cup in 2021 (first trophy for Slovakia and his second as a coach). Later that year he announced a collaboration with the Slovenian Ski Federation.
