Viktor Dombrovsky

With a career that spanned more than 23 years, Viktor Dombrovsky was regarded as one of the best ice hockey referees in the Soviet Union. Dombrovsky officiated in more than 1,800 domestic and international matches and was named as the best referee in the USSR eight times (1972, 1974–76, 1978–81). His impressive list of international fixtures included matches at eight World Championships between 1972 and 1981, two editions of the World Student Universiade (1970, 1973), the 1972 Super Series between the USSR and Canada, and the Winter Olympics of 1976 and 1980. Dombrovsky was honoured multiple times for his service to the sport, including winning the Golden Whistle for the best referee at the 1977 World Championships.
