Theo van Reijn was a Dutch sculptor, who lived and worked mainly in Haarlem. He studied at the Reich’s Academy in Amsterdam from 1905 and was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1911. He then lived in Roma for some time. His work focused on architectural sculptures and portrait busts, including those of Willem Kromhout and the Italian educator Maria Montessori (1870-1952). In addition, van Reijn made many applied works: Lamp bases, door knockers, baptismal fonts, and clocks. In 1949, an exhibition of his works was held at the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem.
