Biography

Tammy Jackson played college ball at the University of Florida. She was a three-time selection as All-Southeastern Conference, and was a second-team All-American as a senior. She helped the USA win a bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and a gold medal at the 1990 World Championships.

After college Jackson played internationally as there was no US women’s professional league. In 1997, when the WNBA started, she was drafted in the second round by the Houston Comets. Jackson played in the WNBA through 2002, mostly with the Comets, but played one year with the Washington Mystics in 1998. At her retirement in 2002 she was the oldest player in the WNBA.

Jackson later went back to school and graduated from Florida in 2007. She was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame in 1995 as a “Gator Great,” and again in 2003 as an “SEC Great.”
