Ron Volmer played water polo for Lynwood Athletic Club and the Los Angeles Swim Club. He attended Compton Junior College and later U Cal Berkeley. While at Berkeley he made All-American in swimming for the 100 freestyle and played water polo. Volmer played on AAU outdoor champions in 1959-61. He won a silver medal at the 1963 Pan American Games. Volmer was inducted into the US Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1990.
