Biography

Anton Hangel was an Austrian weightlifter who finished seventh at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics in the lightweight class. He then moved up to middleweight and placed an unfortunate fourth at the 1936 Berlin Games. In 1934, he won his only Austrian national title, and was a silver medallist in 1933 and 1938, and third in 1935. He also won the Wien (Vienna) Championship in 1936 and 1938-39.
