Biography

Gyula Csinger started his sports career in 1927 as a boxer in the MTK. He tried wrestling for a short time before discovering that weightlifting was his sport. He won the Hungarian championship six times in total. In 1932 he finished first in the lightweight, and between 1933 and 1937 he was first in the middleweight. During this time, he set nearly forty national records.

In 1936, with Jenő Kuti, they competed as the first Hungarian weightlifters at the Olympics and finished 16th in the middleweight. After finishing his sports career, he worked as a coach. In 1952 he founded the MAFC weightlifting department and worked as a car driver and warehouseman at the Budapest Technical University.
