Biography

Forward Karl Ampt was on the West German basketball team at the 1972 München Olympics. The team lost both the classification match for places 9-12 against Australia by only one point (70-69), and also lost the 11th place match by one point against Spain (84-83). He earned 60 international caps. Domestically, Ampt played with MTV Gießen and helped them win the 1968 West German title. During his dentistry study he played with 1. FC Bamberg from 1974-76. Ampt later practiced dentistry in Gießen.
