In the 1950s Jørgen Barth-Jørgensen dominated in middle-heavyweight weightlifting class in Norway. Barth-Jørgensen success began in 1950 with him going on an incredible run of winning nine consecutive national titles. These victories included five King’s Cups, with him also becoming the Nordic champion in 1955. He competed at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics but finished a disappointing 13th out of the 20 athletes to participate. Barth-Jørgensen set multiple national records during his career and was posthumously inducted into the Norwegian Weightlifting Association’s Hall of Fame in 2023.
