Biography

Rich Tom finished second at the 1947 World Championships before taking his bronze medal at the 1948 Olympics. His only national title came in the 1952 AAU bantamweight division. He later served as a weightlifting official. His career was in government, and he was also a veteran of World War II. Tom’s hobby was collecting jazz records, and he had a large collection of 78 vinyls. He was the first Chinese-American to compete for the United States in the Olympics.
