Biography

A talented big man, János Bencze played basketball for Hungary, earning 116 caps with the national team. His club career in Hungary lasted from 1950-68, playing for Hódmezővásárhelyi Dózsa (1950-1952), Budapest Locomotive (1952-1957), TFSE (1957-1958), and Budapest Honved (1958-1968). He helped Hungary win the 1955 European Championship and the 1954 Universiade, in addition to competing at the 1960 and 1964 Olympics.
