Bruno Hartmann was an Austrian wrestler who participated in the 1972 München Olympics. Losing his first two bouts in the freestyle welterweight division he was eliminated early in the competition. He did, however, win several national titles.
Hartmann later turned to coaching and was chief coach in Austria from 1976-90. He was later involved with women’s coaching and became the pioneer of introducing women’s wrestling to Austria. His daughter Nikola won five World Championship titles. Although the International Wrestling Federation assigned her a wildcard for the 2008 Beijing Games, the Austrian NOC denied selecting her for the Games.
