Biography

Ville Pukkila represented Finland in the lightweight division of Greco-Roman Wrestling at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He benefitted from a walkover in round 2 but lost both of his bouts and was eliminated after round 3. His third place in 1910 was his only podium at the national championships.

Pukkila emigrated to the United States in 1913 returning occasionally to his home country. A professional carpenter, he married his wife Olga and lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, East Orange, New Jersey, and Van Etten, New York, where he eventually died. In the United States, he changed his given name to Thomas William.
