Biography

Joseph Domas was an active member and wrestler with the Association Sportive Michelin in Clermont-Ferrand from the early 1910s. The reigning regional champion in his weight class, he was first selected as a member of the French wrestling team for the 1920 Antwerpen Olympic Games, but ultimately did not end up competing. A year later, he represented France internationally once again at the European Championships held in Helsinki in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Domas was eventually selected once again to represent France internationally, at age 32, for the Olympic team in 1924. Competing in Paris, he placed equal ninth in a field of 27 competitors, losing in round four by decision to Roman Steinberg of Estonia. Domas continued to be involved with his club as a coach and manager towards the end of the decade and into the 1930s.
