Biography
West German Greco-Roman wrestler Fritz Gerdsmeier finished sixth at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the heavyweight class. Four years later he moved up to super-heavyweight but was eliminated in the second round. Gerdsmeier won seven national titles and placed seventh both at the 1984 European and the 1987 World Campionships. By profession, he was a commercial clerk. His father Karl-Heinz also was a former wrestler.
