Biography

Greco-Roman wrestler Roger Gößner was eliminated in the group stage at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, representing West Germany in the middleweight division. He placed fifth at the 1987 European Championships and also won the silver medal at the Worlds, having previously won a bronze medal in 1982. Gößner won national titles in 1987-88, and 1994. His father Helmut was also a successful national wrestler.
