Biography

Rolf Krauß finished an unfortunate fourth at the 1976 Montréal Summer Games in the Greco-Roman flyweight division. Due to the US-led boycott of the Moskva Games he could not participate four years later. In 1975, he had his greatest moment by winning the European Championships.

In his youth, Krauß started as a gymnast before moving to wrestling. In 1973-75, 1977-78 and 1980, he won the West German national flyweight, and later, bantamweight titles. By profession, he was a trained heating engineer and further trained as a chemical technician.
