Biography

The brother of Pasquale Passarelli, Claudio Passarelli was eliminated in the group stage at the 1988 Seoul Olympics wrestling in the Greco-Roman lightweight class while representing West Germany. Four years later at Barcelona, he finished 10th while competing for re-unified Germany. In 1986 he won the bronze medal at the World Championships and in 1989 his greatest moment came when he earned the World Championship gold medal.

Domestically, Passarelli won national titles in 1984-85, 1988-89, 1992, and 1994. He later took aver several positions at his home club VfK Schifferstadt. By profession, he became a senior test manager at a Swiss information technology corporation.
