Biography

Greco-Roman wrestler Heinz Schäfer finished sixth at the 1976 Montréal Olympics in the heavyweight class. In 1975 and 1977 he won the West German national titles. He also worked as a department manager and youth coach at in his home club KSV Witten. Schäfer was a trained swimming pool attendant. At the age of 33, he died in a motorcycle accident after crashing into a tree.
