Biography

Ottó Szelky started his career as a heavyweight wrestler in 1913. He was the first national champion from Vasas (1919) and its first Olympic participant (1924). After his first national championship title he won three more in 1922, 1925, and 1927. In 1928 Szelky moved to MTK. He died relatively young when he was on a boat trip with his company and their boat ran into a reef, with everyone aboard falling into the water. While the members of the company managed to escape, Szelky developed cramps and drowned.
