Biography

Usually crewing with Nives Monico, Verona’s Anna Bacchiega was an Italian sailor who competed in the 470 Class at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She won her first Italian title in the Flying junior class. She won the 1980 Italian title in 470 and placed second that year at the World Championships, followed by a bronze medal in 1981. In 1982 she reached the top step of the podium when she won the 470 World Championship, placing third again in 1983. She again won World gold in 1984 at Laargs in Scotland. Her final Italian Championship came in 1991, the same year she won a bronze medal at the Mediterranean Games. Bacchiega was awarded the Gold Medal of the Italian Olympic Committee for her sailing achievements.
