Biography

Julia Trotman attended Harvard, where she was a three-time sailing All-American. She was first on the US national team in 1991, when she finished seventh at the Olympic Practice Regatta in Barcelona and fourth at the IYRU Women’s World Championships in European Class. Trotman won the bronze medal in that class at the Barcelona Olympics.

At the Olympics she also met Jim Brady, who won a silver medal in Soling in Barcelona, and they would marry in 1994. Julia worked for Forbes Magazine after college. The couple later worked for Dennis Conner Sports, a sports marketing company in New York. They also served as consultants to the 1995 America’s Cup Races that were held in San Diego. Eventually the couple settled in Portland, Maine where Trotman-Brady worked in advertising, serving as the Group Client Strategy Director for VIA Agency.
