Biography

In 1966, Jan Bol won the Dutch “Primus Inter Pares” trophy, a competition held between the national champions in various boat types, becoming the first Dragon sailor to claim that title. Bol raced in the Dragon yacht of Cor Groot in Acapulco, where the 1968 Olympic sailing competitions were held. The “White Jewel” placed 10th there. In 1969, as a skipper, Bol placed second in the field at regatta of the Kieler Woche, the world’s largest sailing event. In the 1970s, Bol became president of the sailing club in his home town, Aalsmeer.
