Biography

A lifelong member of Yacht Club Olivos, Guillermo Calegari, Sr. reached the pinnacle of his international sailing career when he was selected to represent Argentina in the Star class at the 1972 Munich Olympics. There, alongside partner Luis Schenone, he finished 18th and last in the event. His other notable appearance came many years later, in 2005, when he became world champion at the master’s level in the Star Class, alongside the non-Olympian Patricio Homps. By career, Calegari was a part of the family real estate business. His son, Guillermo Jr., represented Argentina in the Star class at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
