Norman Freeman raced Flying Dutchman at the 1976 Olympics, in his boat, “Ole Yeller.” He won a bronze with that boat at the 1975 Pan American Games, and was second at the 1974 World Championships in Laser. He also won US titles in Flying Dutchman in 1973 and 1975.

Freeman graduated from Cornell in 1953 and was a lawyer who had his own private practice.
