Bengt Heyman, the son of a merchant, graduated in law and became director of the Swedish Employers’ Association (SAF). With his wife Siri Anna Rosa (née Dahl) he had three sons and one daughter.
Heyman was the owner and helmsman of the yacht Sans-Atout in the 8-metre class at the 1912 Olympic Games. Thanks to a second place in race one, they made it to the silver medal race, beating the Finnish Lucky Girl by less than one minute. Sans-Atout is a term from the game of bridge. The yacht was designed by Johan Anker and built in 1908 on the Anker & Jensen shipyard. Initially, the boat was named Atair and owned by seafood merchant Otto Georg Ameln (1869-1927). It went through several hands until it disappeared from the registers around 1925. The Heyman family produced several avid sailors, owning multiple boats.
