Biography

Edward Melaika attended MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and then had his first job in the Bay Area, near Oakland, California. He raced at the 1952 Olympics while in college, racing in the Finn class. He joined the Richmond Yacht Club and bought an International 110, racing in the Small Boat Racing Asssociation and Small Yacht Racing Association. He skippered racing teams that won the Lipton Trophy in 1963 and the Larry Knight Trophy in 1965.
