Biography

Darrell Imhoff attended Cal/Berkeley and in 1959, playing against West Virginia, his tip-in with 17 seconds remaining gave Cal the NCAA championship. At 6-10 (2.08) he played center exclusively, but was only a back-up center on the 1960 Olympic team, behind Jerry Lucas and Walt Bellamy. He went on to have a solid 12-year NBA career, starting out with the New York Knicks, and eventually playing for Detroit, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Portland. He liked the Portland area so much that he settled there and became a part-time radio commentator for the Trail Blazers’ games. He also worked as a representative for a Seattle sporting goods firm.
