Biography

Eric Olsen attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 1940. He was a renowned sailor known for racing many types of boats all over the world. While at MIT he won the first two intercollegiate dinghy championships. In 1955 he won three major coastal races in Europe aboard his cruising ketch, Arabella. In 1957 he sailed or raced in 43 different types of boats. In 1959 he won the “One-of-a-Kind” race in Florida in a Tiger Cat, with Glen Foster as his crew. Olsen was affiliated with the Essex Yacht Club and worked as a consultant in the plastics industry.
