Biography

Thomas Schmid was a West German sailor who finished sixth in the Finn class at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, after failing to finish the seventh regatta. He was world champion in 1988, and third at the 1982 European Championships. In 2019, he won another world title, in the over-60 tournament.

By profession, Schmid was a freelance insurance agent. His wife Daniela also was a successful national sailor.
