Biography

Lauritz Schmidt went to a commerce school and lived for three years in Hamburg during his professional training. In 1926 he became head of a book printing and binding company Nationaltrykkeriet A/S & Forlagsbokbinderiet. In 1928 and 1936 he won silver medals in the 8-metre class with the yachts Lyn and Silja, respectively. Schmidt served from 1939-46 as President of the Association for the Promotion of Skiing.
