Biography

Conrad Mainwaring had little athletic history of note. He was English, but competed for Antigua at the Olympic Games. He later became a track coach both in California and at Camp Greylock in Massachusetts, where he was also a counselor. In 2019, ESPN’s investigative reporting team released evidence that Mainwaring had been a serial sexual abuser of young men, naming as many as 41 boys that reported that Mainwaring had sexually abused them. In June 2019, Los Angeles police arrested Mainwaring on one felony count of sexual battery by fraud. He pleaded not guilty and was released on bail a few days later. The charges were later dismissed although apparently a plea deal was arranged. In March 2021 he was again charged with sexually molesting boys.
