Biography

Antonio Pocoví was a a 400 metre and 800 metre runner who made his most significant contributions outside of the world of sports. In 1943 he graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba with a degree in geology and in 1946 earned a Ph.D. in natural sciences. He later passed the Argentine bar examination and served as the chairman at his university. He authored more than 50 papers in his field, focusing on natural resources and oil exploration in Argentina. As an athlete he represented his country between 1945-49 in various South American championships. He later became a trainer of athletes and a coach of the national team.
