Klaus Bodenmüller was Austrian shot put champion (1987, 1989, 1991-93) and qualified for the 1988 Seoul and 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. He did not advance to the final in 1988 but came sixth in 1992. Bodenmüller was one of the most successful Austrian athletes of all time.
At the 1987 World Championships, Bodenmüller came seventh, and at the 1991 Indoor Worlds surprisingly won the silver medal. His greatest international moment came in 1990 when he won the European Indoor gold medal. He had won silver in 1987 and 1989 and added a bronze in 1992.
By profession, Bodenmüller became a software developer involved in sports timing technology.
