Biography

Belarussian track and field athlete Siarhei Alai began competing in 1984 and specialized in the hammer throw. Alai represented Trud Minsk throughout his career and finished fourth at his first appearances at the World Championships in 1993. He competed at another World Championships two years later when he came sixth in Göteborg. His performances earned him a place on the Olympic team for the 1996 Atlanta Games where he finished eighth in the final with a best throw of 77.38 metres.

Personal Best: HT – 82.00 (1992).
