Biography

Brazilian track and field athlete Darcy Guimarães represented Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro where he specialised in the hurdles. Guimarães competed in the 110 metres hurdles at the 1936 Berlin Olympics but was eliminated in the heats. He had better success at the 1937 South American Championships in Athletics in São Paulo when he won silver in both the 110 metres hurdles and the 400 metres hurdles. Later the same year Guimarães also won silver in the 400 metres hurdles at the International University Games in Paris.
