In the early 1920s Andrew Miller was one of the best field athletes in New Brunswick, where he specialised in the high jump. Miller was the New Brunswick champion in the event from 1921 to 1923, the maritime champion in 1921 and 1922, and the Canadian champion in 1922 and 1923. He was also the national champion in the long jump in 1923. At the Olympic trials in June 1924 Miller was selected to go to the Paris Games as the only Canadian high jumper to come to the qualification standard. Due to this selection quirk he was forced to cover half of the costs to Europe himself, even though he travelled with the rest of the Canadian team. At the Games, however, he was suffering with an injury and finished 22nd with a best clearance of 1.65 metres. Miller was inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame in 1976.
Personal Best: HJ – 1.815 (1923).
