Biography

Stan McMeekan and his twin brother Sid were the second pair of twins born to cinema pianist James, and Ida McMeekan. The first pair were born ten years earlier. Sid and Stan played for the leading Midlands basketball team, Birmingham Dolobran, and the two siblings also played for England. They were both members of the Great Britain squad at the 1948 Olympics but never played in a match together. Stan played in four of the five group matches and none of the classification matches, while Sid played in all three classification matches and no group games.
