Biography

Sofus Rose was a Danish long-distance runner who represented IF Sparta in København. He was the national champion in the marathon in 1915 and 1923. At the Antwerpen Olympics Rose finished sixth where he received a diploma of merit for finishing within 25% of the winning time. He was scheduled to run in the marathon at the 1924 Paris Olympics but did not start the race. Rose’s daughter Emmanuel was also a talented runner who won Danish 400 and 800 metres titles.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-41:18 (1920).
