A career military man, Ezz El-Din Moukhtar earned a Bachelor of Military Sciences in 1944 and was appointed a Lieutenant in the Egyptian Army that same year. From 1938 onwards he was active as a track and field athlete, an interest that culminated with his selection to represent Egypt in two events at the 1948 London Olympics. He also remained active in sport, serving on the Egyptian Olympic Committee from 1959 through 1966.
