Ignacio Izaguirre

In the 1920s track and field athlete Ignacio Izaguirre won 11 Spanish titles and set six national records in various throwing events. Between 1920 and 1927 Izaguirre won five Spanish titles in the shot put, four titles in the discus, and two titles in the javelin. He broke the national record in the shot put in 1918 before improving it twice during 1920. In the javelin throw he set a national record in 1920 before breaking it on two occasions the following year, becoming the first Spanish athlete to throw further than 40 metres.

Izaguirre competed in the shot put and the javelin at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics where he finished 17th and 23rd, respectively. He was also scheduled to compete in the discus but did not start in the event.
