Veikko Peräsalo was a Finnish all-round track and field athlete who specialised in the high jump. At the national championships Peräsalo won gold in the event in 1932 and 1933, along with silver (1934–35, 1936, 1940) and bronze (1937, 1944). At the 1934 European Athletics Championships in Torino he jumped 1.97 metres to win bronze. Two years later he tied for 12th at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. In addition to being a talented high jumper Peräsalo was also the Finnish champion in the decathlon in 1935.
