Biography

Akseli Takala was a solider who fought for the White Army in the Finnish Civil War, the Winter War, the Continuation War, and the Lapland War. While doing his military service Takala became the army champion in the shot put and discus throw and set multiple army records in throwing events. From here he competed at multiple editions of the Finnish athletics championships in the 1920s where he again won medals in the discus and shot put. Takala competed in the shot put at the 1924 Paris Olympics where he finished 11th with a best throw of 13.315 metres.

Personal Best: SP – 14.47 (1927).
