French track and field athlete Marcelle Gabarrus represented Toulouse UC where she specialised as a sprinter. Gabarrus was the national champion in the 200 metres in 1951 and 1952, earning herself a place on the Olympic team. At the 1952 Helsinki Games she reached the semi-finals of the 200 metres and was part of the quartet that ran in the 4 × 100 metres relay. Following her brief athletics career Gabarrus remained with Toulouse UC but switched sports to volleyball and captained the team.
